Aris Veld is an Istanbul-based moving-image artist whose work turns invisible social, psychological and ontological pressures into physical conditions. In his films, ordinary situations become unstable: bodies reorganize, matter changes behaviour, and space begins to operate according to rules that do not exist outside the work.

Transformation is not the subject. It is evidence of something normally unseen becoming physical: a belief, a memory, a system, a relationship or a form of pressure. Veld is interested in the point where an abstract force stops being metaphorical and begins to alter what a body can become, carry or endure.

Artificial intelligence functions as a production environment rather than the subject of the work. It allows Veld to construct events that could not be conventionally recorded, while the artistic proposition remains primary. His current body of work, Metamorphosis, develops this approach through short moving-image works in which impossible events unfold inside familiar, photographically credible worlds.

Background

Veld studied Graphic Arts at Dokuz Eylül University’s Faculty of Fine Arts. His background spans more than two decades in art direction and creative direction, alongside a long-standing engagement with visual research, experimental image-making and surreal digital work. This experience now informs an independent artistic practice built around authorship, visual precision and conceptual control.

Veld is open to selected exhibitions, screenings, commissions and collaborations across cultural, music, performance, fashion, luxury, editorial and design contexts. He prioritizes projects that allow for the development of an original conceptual and visual system while preserving artistic authorship and creative control.
